Child policy*

Children can only be accommodated in a Standard Room. Children aged 12 years and younger (maximum two children per room) will be accommodated free of charge on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis including one game drive, if sharing with one or two adults. Children aged 13-17 years will be accommodated free of charge on a room only basis and will be charged for meals and game drives. Children occupying their own rooms will be charged the full adult rate.

Each of our Twin rooms have two single beds, individual air conditioning, bathrooms with separate shower, bath and toilet, DStv, direct-dialling telephones, electric shaving plugs, coffee and tea-making facilities, a hairdryer, international multi-plugs and electronic safes. FAMILY TWIN ROOM

Each Family Twin room has two double beds and a sleeper couch. To ensure your comfort and convenience, all Studio Family rooms have individual air conditioning, bathrooms with separate shower, bath and toilet, DStv, direct-dialling telephones, electric shaving plugs, coffee and tea-making facilities, a hairdryer, international multi-plugs and electronic safes. Minibars are stocked on request.

STANDARD KING ROOM

All Standard King rooms have one king size bed. All Standard King rooms have individual air conditioning, bathrooms with shower/ bath combined and toilet, DStv, direct-dialling telephones, electric shaving plugs, coffee and tea-making facilities, a hairdryer, international multi-plugs and electronic safes. Minibars are stocked on request. Standard King rooms are allocated on the upper and lower lever. The lower level units have a lounge with sleeper couch.

Pamper yourself in one of our Executive twin rooms, where you will find two double beds and a minibar (stocked on request and charged on consumption) as a standard feature. Complete with the full list of other standard features offered by Kwa Maritane, each room also has individual air conditioning, bathrooms with separate shower, bath and toilet, DStv, direct-dialling telephones, electric shaving plugs, coffee and tea-making facilities, a hairdryer, international multi-plugs and electronic safes.

The ultimate in indulgent luxury - in the middle of wildest Africa. Luxuriate in a king-size bed, sample the minibar (stocked on request and charged on consumption), while taking advantage of the full range of standard mod cons on offer with us, including individual air conditioning, bathrooms with separate shower, bath and toilet, DSTV, direct-dialing telephones, electric shaving plugs, coffee and tea-making facilities, a hairdryer, international multi-plugs and electronic safes.

SWIMMING POOL

Not much trumps a cool dip in the pool on a hot summer’s day. The Bakubung pool, with its plethora of loungers and full poolside service, allows guests to lie back, soak up the sun and enjoy a cold beverage or a light lunch without having to move. If you need a short break from the sun, our poolside bar is a great place to retreat to and have a drink in the shade.

RESIDENT LOUNGE

For those visiting on business or for those needing a quiet space to get a few hours of work done, our resident’s lounge is the ideal space to retreat to. There are a variety of comfortable seating areas to work from and the area offers strong WIFI signal should you require it.

KIDS PLAYGROUND

Family comes first! Bakubung and its facilities and activities make it an easy choice for families. Kids can spend hours playing on our playground which has been fully equipped with slides, swings and climbing equipment. When they are done here, there are a number of other kid’s activities on offer to help keep them entertained.

JUNIOR RANGERS

Keep the kids entertained with our fun and educational Junior Rangers Programme! Children between the ages of 6-12 can participate in a range of fun activities to learn all about our local fauna and flora. They are also given a goody bag packed with a range of entertaining stuff, plus a personalised certificate at the end of their stay.

HIPPO HOLIDAY CLUB

If you are joining us during the school holidays, be sure to enroll your little ones into the Hippo Holiday Club. Designed for kiddies aged 4 to 12, the programme offers a range of age-appropriate activities to keep your little treasures entertained

WILDLIFE CENTRE

We are passionate about wildlife and educating our guests about the incredibly diverse range of animals, birds and reptiles we are home to in the Pilanesberg. Guests can come visit the wildlife center to view and learn about various indigenous snakes from the area, as well as find out about our educational and interactive bush walks, game drives and recent animal sightings.

TENNIS COURTS

What better way to stay healthy and active than with a game of tennis? Get your game on with family or friends or get stuck in with the kids - with two floodlit courts available you can play night or day. You do not even have to bring equipment with you because there are tennis rackets and balls available from reception.

VOLLEYBALL COURT

Grab your family members and start a game of volleyball and soon, there will be others wanting to join in the fun. There is nothing more social than a game of volleyball and it’s a brilliant way for kids to make new friends while participating in a fun and active game.

GYM

For those wanting to keep fit and active on their bush breakaway, Bakubung offers a fully equipped gym adjacent to the tennis courts. Runners can enjoy a jog on one of our treadmills and for those looking to tone up, there are a variety of weights and weight machines on offer. Fresh sweat towels and cold water are always available on site, to ensure you have a pleasant workout experience.

DRY CLEANING

We offer laundry service seven days a week. 07h00-12h00 same day delivery / After 12h00 - next day delivery.

HOUSEKEEPING

Rooms are serviced each morning to keep them fresh and tidy, with a turn-down service each evening for a cosy, restful night.

ROOM SERVICE

Enjoy room service from Marula Grill Restaurant with a select menu of firm favourites. Available daily from 11:00 - 21:00.

TRANSFER, CHAUFFEUR AND CAR HIRE

For guests who would like to take a shuttle to enjoy a day trip to Sun City or perhaps require a transfer to and from the airport, we have you sorted. For a small surcharge, a shuttle bus between the lodge and Sun City, or a transfer to and from the Pilanesberg airport can be arranged on request.

GAME DRIVES

Join a qualified guide for a game drive in one of our large game vehicles (smaller vehicles available on request) and learn all about the unique fauna and flora that form part of this richly diverse landscape.

BUSH WALKS

With over 360 species of bird and a thriving mix of plant life, this activity provides guests with an active, educational experience in the bush. Learn about the transition zone between the semi-arid Kalahari Desert and the Lowveld and how the extensive bird life here, live and feed on it. It is truly an unforgettable experience.

DIRECTIONS FROM SANDTON/FOURWAYS

  • Travel north along William Nicol Drive to the Fourways intersection with Witkoppen Road
  • Assume a zero speedometer reading at this intersection. Turn left into Witkoppen Road towards Lanseria / Roodepoort
  • At 6.3 km turn right at the intersection with Hans Strijdom Extension on the road to Lanseria
  • At 12.7 km cross over the Muldersdrift / Diepsloot Road and continue with the R512 towards Broederstroom and Lanseria
  • At 14.3 km cross the bridge over the R28 Krugersdorp / Pretoria highway
  • At 19.2 km pass the actual Lanseria turnoff and carry on straight
  • At 37.3 km you encounter a T-junction. Turn left on the R512 to Magaliesberg
  • At 47.1 km turn right on the R512 to Brits, cross the railway line and within 3 km you cross the new bridge over the Hartebeespoort Dam
  • At 52.4 km you encounter another T junction. Turn right on the R512 towards Brits
  • The next intersection is a major four-way stop indicating R513 to Pretoria North straight ahead, R27 to Pretoria via the tunnel bridge to the right and R512/27 to the left for Brits and Rustenberg – TURN LEFT towards Brits and Rustenberg
  • At 58.5 km you bypass the first Brits turnoff on the right
  • At 62.1 km you turn right on the R27 after the signpost to Rustenberg/Brits
  • At 62.8 km keep left on the R27 to Rustenberg
  • At 67.6 km take the slipway left again indicating the direction towards Rustenberg. The R27 becomes the new N4 highway
  • At 75.8 km, a signboard indicates Pilanesberg to the left on route 91. A further sign board indicates that this is the route to Sun City, exit left off the highway
  • At the stop sign turn right, cross over the bridge and travel a further 70 km towards Sun City
  • Turn right when you reach the Mogwase & Pilanesberg turnoff
  • Signposting to Kwa Maritane is prominent. Just short of 2 km from this point, turn left and enter the gate to the Park
  • Travel a further 1 km to reach your destination
