Tucked high along the banks of the Kuvenyami River, four thoughtfully designed suites open to the sights and sounds of the wilderness. Glass doors frame views of the water and surrounding bush, while warm interiors, private decks and both indoor and outdoor bathrooms create spaces of comfort and calm. Secluded yet connected to nature, each suite offers an intimate retreat where mornings begin with birdsong and evenings close with the hush of the river.

PREMIER SUITE

The Premier Suite at Kuname Safari Lodge is designed as the ultimate retreat for honeymooners. Secluded and intimate, it features an outdoor garden with a free-standing stone bath and open-air shower, inviting long moments of relaxation beneath the sky. Inside, elegant décor and warm natural tones create a cosy atmosphere, while a private balcony opens to views of the Kuvenyami River and surrounding wilderness. Romantic, private and deeply connected to place, it is a suite made for unforgettable moments.

GAME DRIVES

Experience the bush at its most alive on morning and afternoon game drives. Guided by expert rangers and trackers, you may encounter lions, elephants, rhinos, giraffes, and more while exploring Karongwe’s diverse landscapes. Open safari vehicles offer uninterrupted views, with sundowners enjoyed at sunset.

KRUGER

Discover the iconic Kruger National Park on a full-day guided excursion through vast savannahs, forests, and wildlife-rich plains. Learn about the park’s history and conservation while enjoying incredible game viewing opportunities and scenic stops along the way.

HOT AIR BALLOON

Float above the Lowveld at sunrise and take in breathtaking views of rivers, plains, and distant mountains. Spot wildlife from above before ending the experience with a champagne breakfast and included transfers when booked through Karongwe.

PANAROMA TOUR

Explore some of South Africa’s most spectacular natural landmarks, including God’s Window, Blyde River Canyon, the Three Rondawels, Lisbon Falls, and Bourke’s Luck Potholes.

BUSH WALKS

Experience the bush on foot with experienced rangers guiding you through Karongwe’s wilderness. Bush walks offer a slower, more intimate safari experience where every sound, track, and detail of the landscape comes to life.

GIN TASTING AT KARONGWE

Enjoy a curated tasting of exceptional local and international gins infused with botanicals inspired by the Lowveld. Guided by an expert host, discover unique flavours, mixers, and garnishes while learning the stories behind each blend.

MOHOLOHOH RESCUE CENTER

Visit Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, a sanctuary dedicated to injured and orphaned wildlife. Guided tours offer insight into conservation efforts, animal rehabilitation, and the inspiring stories behind the animals in their care.

INTERACTIVE COOKING

Join the Karongwe chefs for a hands-on culinary experience featuring Pan-African dishes, fresh local ingredients, and traditional cooking techniques. Enjoy a relaxed atmosphere filled with flavour, culture, and shared stories.

PHOTOGRAPHIC HIDE

Capture incredible wildlife moments from a water-level photographic hide designed for close, undisturbed viewing. Photograph elephants, birds, antelope, and more in a unique and intimate setting.

HELICOPTER FLIP

Take to the skies above Blyde River Canyon and enjoy breathtaking aerial views of towering cliffs, waterfalls, and the famous Three Rondavels.

Soar above the Olifants River Gorge and experience dramatic landscapes, winding rivers, and wildlife from a spectacular aerial perspective.

COMMUNITY VISIT & TREE PLANTING

Connect with neighbouring communities through cultural visits, conversations with local residents, and a meaningful indigenous tree-planting experience that supports conservation and regeneration efforts.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

  • Kruger Excursion guests forfeit both included game drives for the day.
  • Hot Air Ballooning replaces the morning game drive and includes a champagne breakfast and transfers.
    Moholoholo tours may replace either a morning or afternoon game drive depending on timing.
  • Community Visits are available midweek during school terms only and are subject to availability.

FROM JOHANNESBURG

  • Take the N4 towards Mbombela (Nelspruit), passing eMalahleni (Witbank) and Middelburg.
  • Turn left into eMakhazeni (Belfast).
  • Follow the signs and turn right towards Dullstroom, continuing through Mashishing (Lydenburg).
  • Continue on the R36 to Ohrigstad and through the JG Strydom Tunnel.
  • Approximately 10 km after the tunnel, turn left onto the R36 towards Tzaneen.
  • Karongwe Private Game Reserve will be on your right.

  • Becks – 27 km

FROM HOEDSPRUIT

  • Head south on Argyle Road for 650 m.
  • Turn left toward the R527 for 100 m.
  • Turn right toward the R527 for 140 m.
  • Turn right onto the R527 and continue for 31.1 km.
  • Turn right onto the R36 and continue for 23.1 km to Karongwe Private Game Reserve.

CHILD POLICY

No children under 12 years.

Children under 16 years are not permitted on bush walks.
